The initial focus will be on non-financial reforms. In higher education, the academic bank of Credit will come by December, AMIT KHARE, higher education secretary, told to MANISH PRATIM GOHAIN in an interview.
THE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN OF THE NEP REFORMS
The policy aims at transformational changes and not incremental. The school system changing from 10+2+3 to 5+3+3+4. Similarly, higher formed with multiple entry and exit options, with multi- disciplinary courses and academic bank of Credit.
Phase-wise implementation of NEP will start from this month will start with more than 100 recommendations. In higher education, the academic bank of credit will come by December 2020. Multiple entry and exit options will also come from the 2020-21 session.
The institutions of eminence (IoEs) will start early and subsequently extended to Central Universities and willing state Universities.
There will be an implementation Committee to continuously monitor and reports will be placed before Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) regularly.
ALL THE NEP REFORMS BE IMPLEMENTED NATIONALLY STRAIGHTAWAY.
In many cases, we will run pilot projects before taking it nationally so as to ensure students are not adversely affected. The academic bank of credit will be tried first in some of the IITs and Central Universities.
When will the four-year degree programme be rolled out?
IoEs will be encouraged to start immediately in 2020-21 session as some of them have already signed the MoU. And they can have the Multiple entry and exit options because by that time the credit bank would have become operational. Central universities which are ready can join by 2021 and latest by 2022.
Multiple entry and exit options will come from the 2020-21 session. For some reforms, we will run pilot projects before taking them nationally so as to ensure students are not adversely affected.

New Education Policy 2020 Highlights: Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the National Education Policy 2020, way for the transformational reforms in the School and Higher education sector in the Country.
New Education Policy was launched on Wednesday, July 29. Earlier, in the afternoon the Union Cabinet approved the Policy that aims to overhaul the Country's education system.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Prakash Javadekar and Human Resource Development (HRD) and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, made the announcement on the NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020, for which draft was prepared by a panel of experts led by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chief K Kasturirangan.
The NEP 2020 aims at making "India a global Knowledge superpower".
The New academic session will begin in September to October- the delay is due to the Epidemic of Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) Outbreak - and the government aims to Introduce the Policy before the new session going on....
